We are committed to you and your future in Spain.

Guirados & Segovia · Norte Legal · A Coruña

At Guirados & Segovia Norte Legal, we are a team of lawyers specialising in immigration and nationality law, with extensive experience assisting people of different nationalities throughout the process of regularising their status, obtaining residency and establishing themselves legally in Spain.

We are based in A Coruña, in the heart of Galicia, but we assist clients throughout Spain and abroad through online consultations. Every case is unique, and we treat it accordingly: with rigorous analysis, clear explanations and a concrete plan of action.

How we work

Four steps, and you always know where your case stands.

  1. 01

    First consultation

We look at your documents, identify the applicable route and check the deadlines that are running.

  2. 02

    Analysis and options

We compare the possible routes and explain what each one gains and loses in your particular case.

  3. 03

    Strategy and filing

We prepare the file or the claim, file it, and respond to any requirement from the authority or the court.

  4. 04

    Follow-up

We follow the matter to its resolution and keep you informed of every step, in English if you prefer.

Online consultation

You do not need to be in A Coruña. Send us your documents in advance, we review them, and we meet by video call at an agreed time.

Before you file anything

Most refusals we see are not about the merits of the case, but about the wrong route, weak evidence of the facts, or documents that contradict each other.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do you work in English?

Yes. Consultations, documents and correspondence can be handled in English. Filings before Spanish authorities and courts are made in Spanish, as the law requires, and we explain their content to you.

I do not live in A Coruña. Can you still act for me?

Yes. We advise clients elsewhere in Spain and abroad by video call. You send the documents in advance, we review them and we meet at an agreed time.

Is the first consultation free?

Ask us when you write and we will confirm the terms before booking. Fees for any work are always agreed in writing beforehand, and third-party costs such as notary fees, registry fees and official charges are separate.

I am in Spain without regular status. Is it safe to contact you?

Yes. Everything you tell a lawyer is covered by professional secrecy. A first consultation commits you to nothing, and knowing your options in time is what changes the outcome.

How long will my case take?

It depends on the authority or court dealing with it, and those timescales are not ours to promise. We give you a realistic estimate at the first consultation and tell you whenever the file moves.

Can a criminal case affect my residence permit?

It can. Having no criminal record is a requirement for most residence permits, for arraigo and for nationality, and certain convictions may lead to removal proceedings. That is why we look at both files together.

What should I bring to the first meeting?

Whatever you have: passport and current permit, any decision or summons with its date of notification, contract and payslips if the matter is employment-related, and any correspondence. It does not need to be complete.

01 · Immigration

Immigration and residence

We handle the whole route: regularisation, residence and nationality.

Residency regularisation (arraigo)

If you have been living in Spain without regular documentation, we analyse whether you qualify for a social, work or family-based regularisation and build the strongest possible application.

Residence permits & renewals

We apply for and renew temporary and long-term residence authorisations, tracking deadlines so you never lose your legal status.

Family reunification

We help residents in Spain to bring their family members legally, managing the visas and documentation required both in Spain and in the country of origin

Spanish nationality

We assess your eligibility for Spanish nationality by residence, descent or naturalisation and prepare the application with all required documentation.

Work authorisation

We offer assistance with the processing of residence and work permits for both employees and self-employed professionals, including overseas recruitment and status changes from an existing permit. We also provide personalized legal advice to employers throughout the hiring process.

Visas and students

Student stays, extensions, working while studying within the limits set by law, and the move from studies to a work permit or the job-search route.

Appeals against refusals

A refusal is not always the end, but the deadlines are short and run from the date of notification. We analyse the file and tell you honestly whether there are grounds to appeal.

If you are in Spain without regular status

There are legal routes out of an irregular situation, and knowing them in time changes the outcome. We will advise you without judging you and under professional secrecy. A first consultation commits you to nothing.

03 · Criminal

Criminal defence and private prosecution

You have the right to legal assistance and the right not to testify against yourself. What is said at the first hearing stays in the file, so do not attend a police station or a court without representation.

Assistance on arrest

Attendance at the police station and the duty court. We make sure your rights are respected, learn the facts attributed to you and decide with you whether to make a statement.

Criminal defence

Representation during the investigation, at trial and at the enforcement stage, examining the police report, the evidence and any procedural defects.

Private prosecution

If you are the victim of an offence, we act on your behalf so that your interests are represented and compensation is claimed.

Traffic offences

Drink-driving, driving without a licence, excessive speed and refusal to take a test. Many are dealt with in fast-track proceedings, leaving little time to prepare.

Gender violence

Assistance to victims and to accused persons, including protection measures and restraining orders, handled with the discretion these cases require.

Economic offences

Fraud, misappropriation, disloyal administration, punishable insolvency and company offences, in defence and in prosecution.

Assault and minor offences

Assault, threats, coercion, damage and theft. An apparently minor matter can end in a criminal record, so it is worth addressing from the start.

Cancellation of criminal records

We apply for the cancellation of criminal and police records once the legal requirements and time periods are met.

Appeals

Analysis of the judgment and of the prospects of appeal before the higher court, within the deadlines set by each procedure.

If you are a foreign national, a criminal case can affect your residence

Having no criminal record is a requirement for most residence permits, for arraigo and for Spanish nationality, and certain convictions may lead to removal proceedings. That is why we run the criminal defence with your immigration file in view, and assess the cancellation of criminal records once the legal requirements are met.

04 · Corporate

Corporate and commercial law

For freelancers, small and medium companies, partners and investors, from incorporation to dispute. If you are setting up from abroad, the corporate and the immigration files run together, and the order in which things are done decides which permit you can apply for afterwards.

Company formation

Choice of legal form according to the activity, the number of partners and the risk assumed. Tailored articles of association and the process through to registration.

Commercial contracts

Services, confidentiality, distribution, agency, franchise, supply and commercial lease agreements. Drafted by us or reviewed before you sign.

Debt recovery

Formal demand, negotiation and, failing payment, order for payment proceedings or a claim. The sooner you act, the better the prospects of recovery.

Shareholders agreements

Which majorities decide what, how an investor comes in, what happens if a partner leaves and how their stake is valued. Signed while everyone still agrees.

Trade marks and trade names

Prior searches, applications for trade marks and trade names before the competent office, and follow-up of oppositions and renewals.

Corporate disputes

Attendance at general meetings, challenges to corporate resolutions, protection of minority shareholders and directors’ liability.

Freelancers and SMEs

Registration of activity, general terms and conditions, relations with clients and suppliers, and review of day-to-day documentation.

Corporate transactions

Sale of shares, capital increases and reductions, changes of director, amendments to the articles and orderly winding-up.
